Political parties brace up for assembly polls, seek early announcement by EC

Srinagar, July 30: The political parties including the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have geared up for the poll preparations for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir with the leaders demanding an early formal announcement by the Election Commission in this regard.
The political parties have geared up for the polls with the leaders from different parties claiming that the leaders have been asked to start preparations in their respective assembly segments.

National Conference (NC) senior leader and party’s Provincial President Kashmir province, Nasir Aslam Wani said that the party has already started preparations for the assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, adding that they expect the formal announcement from the Election Commission soon.
“As per the reports, the EC has also started preparations for the polls while Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have clarified that the polls will be held soon. We are expecting that the polls will be held on time as per the directive issued by the Supreme Court (SC),” he said.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) General Secretary, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura said that they have started preparations for the polls and are awaiting the formal announcement. “As we have started our preparations, it is now up to the EC to decide on conducting polls in J&K,” Hanjura said.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief, Vikar Rasool Wani also informed that the preparations for the polls have been started. “We have fully geared up for the assembly polls. A series of meetings have been held to decide the preparations for the polls,” he said.
BJP General Secretary (organization), Ashok Koul when contacted, said that the party has started preparations from booth level to the top level. “The party high command has issued directions for starting poll preparedness and in this regard, the mission of securing above 50 seats has been started,” Koul said.
