Radio Mirchi and Social Forestry Department Launch 98Tree Plantation Drive on Earth Day

Srinagar April : 22 2025: Marking Earth Day with action and awareness, Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM in collaboration with the Social Forestry Department J&K kickstarted an inspiring green initiative—planting 983 trees across the Valley. The symbolic number reflects Mirchi’s frequency while underscoring its commitment to environmental sustainability.

Aligned with this year’s Earth Day theme—“Our Planet, Our Power”—the campaign aimed to empower citizens, especially youth, to adopt eco-friendly habits and embrace their role in building a greener future.
RJs Mehak, Madeeha, and Mehmood led the campaign with high-energy on-air engagement, live updates from the ground, and impactful interactions with listeners. The initiative wasn’t just about planting trees—it was about planting the seeds of responsibility and lasting change.
At 98.3 Mirchi, we talk about climate change every single day. There is no Planet B. Real action is essential, and planting 983 trees is a meaningful start,” said RJ Mehak.
“Our shows highlight practical, everyday solutions—carpooling, avoiding single-use plastics, conserving resources. We believe in leading by example.”
Mirchi amplified the message across its platforms, urging citizens to take simple steps like tree planting, minimizing waste, and conserving water—proving that even small actions can lead to a massive collective impact.
A senior official from the Social Forestry Department remarked,
Our partnership with Radio Mirchi brought life and reach to the Earth Day drive. Their platform helped us connect with the community in a powerful, relatable way.”
Adding further strength to the campaign, BSF 64 Battalion hosted the plantation activity, showcasing the collective spirit of defense forces, civic bodies, and media coming together for a cause.
Zahid Aslam Moghal, Regional Director, Social Forestry Kashmir, appreciated Radio Mirchi for this vital initiative.
We must act before it’s too late. Whether it’s water pollution, land degradation, or deforestation—each of us has a role to play. Every small step counts.”
