Calls for Spiritual Revival, Ban on Alcohol and Drugs in Society

Srinagar, Apr 17: Prominent Islamic scholar Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami on Friday said that Baba Haider Reshi (Reshi Mol) and Hazrat Sheikh Dawood (Bata Mol) are among the most revered spiritual personalities of Kashmir, whose lives continue to inspire generations towards righteousness and moral values.Addressing a large gathering at the Central Jamia Mosque in Gopalpora, Anantnag, Allama Hami said that a truly righteous society can only be achieved through a strong connection with spirituality. He described Reshi Mol and Bata Mol as shining symbols of knowledge, piety, and spiritual excellence, adding that their teachings remain highly relevant in the present times.He said that these revered saints held a distinguished place among the Awalia and spiritual figures of the Valley due to their deep wisdom, noble character, and service to humanity. “They spread the message of love, sincerity, justice, and brotherhood, and worked tirelessly for the moral upliftment of society,” he said.Highlighting the growing concerns of drug abuse and alcohol consumption, Allama Hami called for a complete ban on alcohol and strict measures to curb the spread of narcotics in the region. He emphasized that legal action alone is not sufficient to eradicate crime and social evils, and stressed the need to strengthen spiritual and ethical values, particularly among the youth.“Allama Hami said that unless people are spiritually awakened and morally guided, it will remain difficult to eliminate social evils. The teachings and lives of saints like Reshi Mol and Bata Mol can play a vital role in protecting society from destructive influences,” he added.He also appreciated the recent strict measures taken by the administration against drug abuse, stating that such steps are the need of the hour to safeguard society from the visible and hidden dangers of narcotics.Reiterating the importance of spiritual guidance, Allama Hami said that saints in every era have worked to eliminate hatred and promote unity and harmony. “Their lives teach us that truthfulness, humility, and service to humanity are the real path to success,” he said.He urged people, especially the younger generation, to follow the teachings of these great saints to build a peaceful, disciplined, and morally strong society.
