PAMPORE, May 02: In a midnight crackdown on illegal mining, the team of Geology and Mining Department seized Seven vehicles, one L&T chain type machine and a JCB machine involved in illegal mining in Srinagar and Pampore Tehsil.In a significant operation against illegal mining, the Geology and Mining Department seized seven vehicles, including a JCB machine, during night raids in various parts of Srinagar district.
Officials informed Morning Kashmir that the operation was carried out in the areas of Nishat, Qamarwari, Khanyar, and Khonmoh as part of the department’s intensified drive to curb unauthorized extraction of minerals. He said the action was taken following specific inputs about illegal mining activities in these locations.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to strict enforcement of mining laws and warned of stern action against violators. The seized vehicles have been taken into custody.
Meanwhile, a team of officials from the Geology and Mining Department Pulwama under the supervision of District Mineral Officer Er Mohammad Manzoor launched a crackdown at Khrew area of Pampore after receiving information regarding the illegal mining in the area.
During the operation one L&T machine involved in illegal mining seized, officials told Morning KashmirThe operation against the illegal mining continued in different areas of the district.
DMO Pulwama again appealed to the people to purchase materials from legal sources and not engage in illegal mining under any circumstances, as strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in illegal mining, he said.
