Sopore, March 11, 2026: Acting on reliable information, Sopore Police busted an incident of gambling at a public place near FCI Sangrama Sopore, and apprehended three persons involved in illegal card gambling.
A police team from Police Post Putkha swiftly raided the spot and apprehended the following individuals:
- Mohammad Akram Sofi S/O Ghulam Nabi Sofi R/O Aalibagh Hygam Sopore
- Mehraj ud Din Tantray S/O Habib ullah Tantray R/O Sangrama Sopore and
- Abdul Majeed Sheikh S/O Mohammad Munawar Sheikh R/O Sangrama Sopore.
During the raid, cash amounting to ₹6,000 along with playing cards and mobile handsets were seized on the spot.
Accordingly, FIR No. 31/2026 under Section 13 of the Gambling Act has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo, and further investigation is underway.
Sopore Police reiterate their commitment to maintaining public order and taking firm action against unlawful activities at public places.
