Baramullah July 11: “The Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K has developed sports infrastructure in all the 20 districts of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and it has infused a lot of enthusiasm in young generation towards sports”. This was stated by Director Youth Services & Sports J&K Subash C Chhibber while touring different North Kashmir districts on Tuesday. He said that under UT Capex Budget 2023-24 playfields under modern lines with an estimated cost of 96.50 Cr are being developed in Kaloosa, Nesbal Sumbal, Hajin, Aragam, Lankergund and some other villages of North Kashmir’s Bandipora District by the Department of YS&S. Similarly in district Barmullah Sultanpora, Chichilora, Boniyar, Hatishah, Gund Brath Dangerpora, Shutloo Rohama and Kralweth Kunzer shall also get modern playing facilities constructed with an estimated cost of 93.76 Crs during the current financial year. Highlighting the importance of sports infrastructure for creating a better sport culture, he said that cultivating a culture of sports not only aids in the production of athletes of international renown but also inspires young people in a nation to undertake physical activities competitively. “Excellence in any sports primarily depends heavily on the sports infrastructure” Director YSS added.
Director Sports visited playfield of Government Higher Secondary School Spore and passed some on spot directions for getting the uncompleted drainage of the facility completed within the shortest possible time. He was accompanied by DYSSO Baramullah/ Kupwara and other senior officers of the Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K.
