Srinagar, 21 December 2025: Reiterating the commitment of the BJP towards strengthening indigenous industries and empowering local communities, Ashok Koul, General Secretary (Organization), J&K BJP, accompanied by Anwar Khan, General Secretary, and other senior party leaders, participated in the closing ceremony of the two-day Swadeshi Mela at Polo View, Srinagar.
The Swadeshi Mela, organized on December 20 and 21, witnessed enthusiastic participation from artisans, traders, and citizens, while also being observed as International Feran Day, with participants proudly wearing and showcasing the traditional Kashmiri Feran.
“Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the concept of Aatmanirbhar Bharat has become a nationwide resolve. Events like the Swadeshi Mela translate this vision into action by directly supporting local artisans, craftsmen, farmers, and small entrepreneurs. A strong local economy is the foundation of a strong nation, and Jammu and Kashmir has immense potential to lead this transformation,” Ashok Koul stated.
Anwar Khan said that the overwhelming public response to the Swadeshi Mela reflects the growing awareness and acceptance of locally made products. He noted that supporting indigenous industries not only boosts the economy but also instills pride in local culture and traditions.
