Tiger 3 follows Pathaan’s footsteps, aims to score big on Bhai Dooj

MUMBAI, NOV 15: Salman Khan-starrer Tiger 3 might have released on the “weakest day” of Diwali but the film’s box office collection in its first week are impressive. After earning Rs 140 crore nett in the domestic market, the film has already made Rs 11.85 crore on its fourth day, as per early estimates (posted at 5:03 pm) by industry tracker Sacnilk.

The film started its box office journey with Rs 44.5 crore in India, followed by Rs 59 crore on its second day. With the fourth day being the holiday for Bhai Dooj in many parts of the country, this could be another big day for the Maneesh Sharma film. At the worldwide box office, the film has already minted Rs 241.85 crore.

While it was expected that Tiger 3 might cross the collections of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan and Jawan, so far it seems unlikely. As per the film’s producers Yash Raj Films, the film has grossed Rs 240 crore at the worldwide box office. In India, the gross figure stands at Rs 180.50 crore, with nett domestic figure at Rs 148.5 crore. Overseas, the film has made Rs 9.87 crore.

Salman Khan has had a dry spell at the box office for a few years now. His film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan was a disappointment at the box office. Even his last few theatrical releases, Antim, Dabangg 3, Bharat, Race 3, did not perform as well as expected. Tiger 3 marks his next big hit after 2017’s Tiger Zinda Hai.

Salman appeared in a cameo in Pathaan, and in Tiger 3, Shah Rukh Khan has appeared in a cameo. The makers are building up to their next big film in the YRF spy universe – Tiger vs Pathaan, but the details on that film are still under wraps. In a chat with Variety, when asked about the upcoming spy film, Salman said, “Tiger is always ready – so whenever things are locked – I will be there.” Tiger 3 also stars Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi.
