Srinagar, May 31: The grand stage of Times Fashion Week Mumbai was set ablaze by the creative brilliance of three visionary designers from Kashmir – Arwa Shah, Mir Manal, and Armaan Asif. In their remarkable debut, this trio proudly represented their homeland, showcasing a groundbreaking collection that pushed the boundaries of eco-friendly fashion.
Months of meticulous planning and tireless effort went into crafting their one-of-a-kind creations. From conceptualization to execution, they transformed everyday materials like plastic bags and old newspapers into breathtaking couture pieces, redefining the essence of sustainable design.
The trio’s innovative approach to upcycling mundane materials into haute couture sparked a frenzy on the ramp. As models sashayed down the runway, draped in vibrant hues and intricate textures, the audience was left spellbound by the sheer ingenuity and craftsmanship on display.
Arwa Shah’s collection, a harmonious blend of traditional Kashmiri motifs and modern silhouettes, drew gasps of delight. Mir Manal’s avant-garde designs, a fusion of organic materials and urban chic, challenged conventional notions of fashion. And Armaan Asif’s bold and daring pieces, crafted from discarded plastics, were a testament to the boundless possibilities of sustainable fashion.
As the curtains fell on their unforgettable debut, the trio had not only mesmerized the fashion elite but had also ignited a spark of hope for a more eco-conscious future in the industry. Their creations were a resounding reminder that true beauty lies in the harmony between innovation and sustainability.
Talking to Morning Kashmir, Arwa Shah expressed both nervousness and determination, emphasizing the message behind their artistry – that beauty lies not in the cost of clothes but in the ingenuity of design.
“This platform was significant, as we presented our performance art rather than just a collection. Initially, we lacked confidence, fearing potential backlash for our unconventional approach. However, we mentally prepared ourselves and the audience, conveying a message that elegance transcends the price tag. Our note emphasized the beauty in designing ordinary clothes with creativity and finesse, aiming to inspire a shift in perspective towards fashion, said Arwa.”
Mir Manal, whose childhood dream fueled her passion for fashion, shared insights into their innovative process, from sourcing materials to the final runway presentation, showcasing their unwavering dedication to their craft.
Manal said, “We began collecting waste materials six months ago, including paper cups, balloon remnants, and cement bags from the factory, which we used to create our collection. “
Their journey from waste to wardrobe not only showcased their design prowess but also served as a powerful reminder of the transformative power of creativity and sustainability.
