Tulkul Arts and Media Collective Staged Kashmiri Play “Su Kar Yiyi” at IUST

Audience lauded the performance of young Artists

Srinagar, 13 November 2024 – Tulkul Arts and Media Collective captivated audiences at Nund Reshi Auditorium Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) with their presentation of “Su Kar Yiyi” a powerful Kashmiri play that explores themes of family, abandonment, and the longing for connection. Written by young playwright Tahir Ahmad Najar and directed by theater activist Ravice Rashid (Rayes Wathori), the play tells the poignant story of an elderly father left behind by his sons, who are drawn to city life. Each day, he waits in vain by the village gate, his sorrow shared by empathetic villagers.

The Play was approved by Sangeet Natak Akademi New Delhi under its 2023-24 Grant-in-Aid. “Su Kar Yiyi” was brought to life by a talented cast, including Tanveer Ahmad (Fighter), Tahir Najar, Junaid Nazir, Manzoor Ul Haq, Suhail Farooq and others.

Ravice Rashid Chairman Tulkul Arts and Media Collective who directed the play as well commended the Ministry of Culture Govt.of India for its crucial support of artists and cultural projects through various funding initiatives.
The play was highly appreciated from IUST staff, students, and art lovers alike. As the applause resounded, it was clear that “SU KAR YIYI” had not only entertained but also touched hearts, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.
