Udhampur, Dec 08 : A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of today in Rehambal, Udhampur district, when two police personnel lost their lives in a case of fratricide and suicide.
According to SSP Udhampur, Amod Ashok Nagpure, a police vehicle carrying Cops was traveling from Sopore to STC Talwara, Reasi when the incident occurred. Upon receiving information, local police and senior officers rushed to the scene.
Initial investigations suggest that one of the Cop, armed with an AK-47 service rifle, opened fire on his colleagues. Both the deceased cops were residents of Kashmir, hailing from Srinagar and Sopore, respectively.
The surviving police officer is safe and has been questioned by the authorities. The bodies of the deceased have been sent to GMC Udhampur for post-mortem examination.
A thorough investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the tragic incident.
