New strategy in place to deal with emerging terror threat: LG Sinha
Srinagar, Oct 26: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Saturday said the government was committed to dismantling terrorism and it’s support networks from Jammu and Kashmir.
“Our efforts are focused on effective, sustained, and coordinated actions against terrorists and their support structures in Jammu and Kashmir. A new strategy is in place to dismantle terrorism from J&K,” he said, adding that a strengthened counter-terrorism grid has been implemented to enhance security measures and prevent infiltration.
Addressing the increase in incidents of narco-terrorism, the LG outlined the government’s intensified efforts to counter the financial channels fueling terrorist activities. “We have initiated a widespread crackdown on narco-terror networks, achieving significant progress in curtailing terror financing. Exemplary actions are being taken against those aiding and abetting terrorism,” he said, asserting the government’s firm stance against elements seeking to destabilize the region.
Sinha also expressed India’s enduring aspiration for peaceful relations with neighboring countries. However, he acknowledged the challenges posed by certain hostile elements, saying, “Unfortunately, we have a neighbor that frequently attempts to disrupt peace. We have devised a fresh strategy to combat emerging terror threats, and our security forces are committed to avenging every drop of innocent blood spilled in Kashmir.”
Referring to recent terror attacks, where many laborers and soldiers lost their lives, Sinha condemned these acts, reiterating the administration’s zero-tolerance stance against terrorism.
Congratulating the new BSF recruits, Sinha praised their commitment and urged them to fulfill their responsibilities with dedication and empathy. “You are now part of the BSF family, and I urge you to serve the nation and its people with utmost dedication,” he said, commending the recruits’ readiness to uphold the BSF’s role as the “first line of defense.”
The LG paid tribute to the bravery of BSF personnel, acknowledging their sacrifices and dedication as a source of inspiration for youth across the nation.
“The valor and dedication of our BSF heroes in safeguarding our borders and handling various security challenges encourage young people to serve their motherland,” he said. He also emphasized the importance of engaging with Kashmir’s youth, particularly through interactions with NCC cadets, to motivate them to consider careers in the security forces.
During the ceremony, Sinha took the ceremonial salute and observed an impressive parade, as well as skill demonstrations by BSF units. He also honored recruits who excelled during their training, encouraging them to uphold the BSF’s values in their future service.
The 44-week training program prepared recruits in a range of essential skills, including weapon handling, firing accuracy, border management, physical fitness, endurance, fieldcraft, and tactics. The curriculum also covered counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency, law enforcement, and human rights, equipping recruits to meet the demands of modern security challenges.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Principal Secretary (Home) Chandraker Bharti, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, BSF Kashmir Inspector General Ashok Yadav, Kashmir IGP V.K. Birdi, and Deputy Commissioner Budgam Akshay Labroo, attended the event alongside BSF personnel, police, security officials, and family members of the newly graduated recruits.
