Srinagar, Oct 4: All eyes are on Saturday as the exit polls after the culmination of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections are set to be published in the late afternoon hours with the majority of political parties claiming to emerge as the single largest party.
The elections for Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly held after the gap of one decade in three phases culminated on October 01, 2024. The polls started on September 18, 2024 while the counting of votes will take place on October 08, 2024.
All concerned parties, including media houses, social media platforms, and polling agencies, have been urged to adhere to these instructions and refrain from publishing or sharing any exit poll results before the stipulated time.
However, the major political parties including Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have claimed to emerge as the single largest party with many others keeping the doors open for the like-minded parties to form the next dispensation in Jammu and Kashmir.
BJP’s J&K unit president, Ravinder Raina has addressed the media persons and stated that the party will emerge as the single largest party and will form the next government in J&K.
At the same time, Congress’s J&K unit President, Tariq Hameed Karra has stated that the doors are open for the like-minded parties for the formation of the next government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Nonetheless, National Conference—an alliance partner of Congress was accused of holding back channel talks with the party outside INDI Alliance.
However, the party’s spokesman, Imran Nabi Dar in a statement to the media has denied the rumours, saying that those sensing their impending defeat have resorted to spreading such baseless accusations. “We urge the public, who have placed their trust in us, to disregard these false claims and not to be swayed by rumour-mongering,” Dar said.
Furthermore, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has already claimed that it will emerge as ‘kingmaker’ in the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
