JAMMU, OCTOBER 30: The Government College for Women (GCW), Parade Ground successfully concluded the three-day volunteeership program titled “Diwali with MY Bharat”, here today.
Organized under the NSS Regional Directorate, Delhi, and part of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the program aimed to promote civic responsibility and enhance city facilities during the festive season.
As many as 120 volunteers from GCW Parade, GGM Science College, GDC Paloura, GCW Bhagwati Nagar, GCW Gandhi Nagar and MAM College participated actively.
The program, held under the banner “Ye Diwali My Bharat Wali” through NSS and NYKS, featured a range of community service activities aimed at fostering a cleaner and more organized environment in the lead-up to Diwali:
Hospital Volunteering: Volunteers assisted patients at GMC Jammu in accessing medical services in the OPD and Emergency departments, providing valuable support to both patients and hospital staff.
Market Cleaning: In collaboration with the All India Traders Association, volunteers conducted a Swachhta (cleanliness) drive in local markets, including Parade, Kanak Mandi, and Purani Mandi, contributing to a cleaner shopping experience.
Traffic Volunteering: Partnering with the Motor Vehicle Department and Traffic Police Jammu, volunteers helped manage traffic at busy choke points, such as Bikram Chowk, Kachi Chhawni, Bakshi Nagar, Panjtirthi, and PCR Parade, ensuring smoother movement and enhanced safety for the public.
