79th Infantry Day Celebrated at Sikh War Memorial Baramulla

Baramulla, 27 Oct 2025: A solemn and dignified ceremony was held at the Sikh War Memorial in Baramulla to mark the 79th Infantry Day, paying tribute to the bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of the Indian Infantry.

The day commemorates the historic air landing of the 1st Battalion of the Sikh Regiment at Srinagar on 27 October 1947 — a pivotal moment in the defense of Jammu & Kashmir that safeguarded the unity and integrity of the nation.

The ceremony was led by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 19th Infantry Division, He was accompanied by the Deputy GOC, Commander of the 79th Infantry Brigade, Commander of the 19th Artillery Brigade, along with several Commanding Officers of various units under the division.

All ranks stood in solemn formation as senior leadership laid floral wreaths at the memorial, honoring the supreme sacrifice of infantry soldiers who have served valiantly across numerous battlefields. The event reflected deep respect and heartfelt gratitude for the brave hearts who continue to uphold the highest traditions of the Indian Army.
