7th J&K Union Territory Karate Championship 2025 Concludes in Jammu with Record Participation

Baramulla 3 jan 2026 : The 7th Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory Karate Championship 2025 concluded successfully at Jammu, after four days of intense competition from 21 to 24 December 2025. Organised by the Amateur Karate-Do Association of Jammu & Kashmir (AKAJK), the championship witnessed participation of over 600 athletes from various districts across the Union Territory, competing in Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior, Under-21 and Senior categories.

Udhampur District emerged as the overall champion, while Jammu District secured the first runner-up position and Kupwara District finished as second runner-up. The closing ceremony was graced by Shri Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, as the Chief Guest. Several eminent personalities from sports, administration and culture were also present, reflecting the growing prominence of karate in the region.

A major highlight of the championship was the outstanding performance of athletes from the Chinar YUVA Centre. A contingent of 21 students from the centre participated, out of which an impressive 17 athletes won medals, showcasing exceptional skill, discipline and dedication. Their success stands as a testament to the role of structured sports training and youth empowerment initiatives in nurturing talent at the grassroots level.

The championship not only promoted competitive excellence but also reinforced sports as a powerful medium for youth development, discipline and unity across Jammu & Kashmir.
