Army Leads Flood Relief Operations in Pampore

Pampore: The Indian Army stepped in to provide crucial assistance as floods triggered by continuous rainfall disrupted life in Pampore and surrounding areas of south Kashmir. Under the leadership of Major Sarvodya Tandon, Company Commander of 50 Rashtriya Rifles, Lethpora COB, Army personnel carried out extensive relief and rescue operations to support the affected population.

Major Tandon and his team worked tirelessly to evacuate stranded families, supply food and drinking water, and extend medical aid in the flooded parts of Pampore. With several roads damaged and communication links down, the Army became the main source of relief for residents cut off from essential services.

Locals said the swift response of the Army saved lives and provided much-needed relief. “The officer and his team carried out large-scale rescue and support during the floods,” said one resident, praising the dedication of the soldiers.

The operations included setting up temporary shelters, distributing medicines, and ensuring basic supplies reached the worst-affected households. The Army also helped in strengthening bunds along the Jhelum and clearing debris from waterlogged routes to reduce further damage.

The floods, which followed days of heavy rainfall, left many families displaced and in need of outside help. In such conditions, the Army’s presence reassured people struggling to cope with the sudden disaster.

The relief efforts led by Major Tandon have drawn wide appreciation. For many families in Pampore, the timely action of the Army turned out to be a lifeline, once again highlighting the force’s commitment to stand by the people of Kashmir during natural calamities.
