The Vessu Welfare Committee today extended a helping hand to the stranded drivers and commuters stuck along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway due to ongoing road closures and adverse weather conditions.
In a spirit of community service and human compassion, the Committee organized a distribution drive of food packets, drinking water, and other essential supplies among the truck and passenger vehicle drivers who have been halted for several hours and, in many cases, days.
Speaking on the occasion, the Committee members stated:
“It is our collective responsibility to ensure that no one goes hungry or suffers unnecessarily, especially those who work tirelessly on the roads to keep essential supplies moving. This is a small gesture of support for our brothers who are stuck far from home.”
The initiative was well-received and appreciated by the drivers, many of whom expressed heartfelt gratitude for the timely support. The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to continue such welfare efforts in the future, especially during emergencies.
The Vessu Welfare Committee appeals to other social and community organizations to step forward in these testing times and extend similar support to those in need.
