Army-Led Swachhata Drive Draws Strong Community Participation in Boniyar

BONIYAR (Baramulla), 01 October 2026 : Indian Army organised a Swachhata Abhiyan in Boniyar area of Baramulla district, drawing enthusiastic participation from school students, youth, women, local residents and Army personnel.

The cleanliness drive was conducted by Torna Battalion under the aegis of Chinar Corps, 19 Infantry Division Baramulla, and 161 Infantry Brigade, with the initiative aimed at promoting cleanliness, environmental awareness and civic responsibility.

The campaign commenced from the Rooh-e-Warzish Football Ground and covered the stretch up to the Boniyar Tehsildar Office, Boniyar Market and the NHPC Main Gate. Participants cleaned the designated areas, collected scattered waste and ensured its proper disposal.

The participation of students, girls and youth highlighted growing awareness among the younger generation about the importance of maintaining clean surroundings and protecting the local environment.

The drive also provided an opportunity for interaction between Army personnel and members of the local community. Participants emphasised that maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility and requires sustained participation from all sections of society.

The campaign concluded with a collective resolve to sustain cleanliness efforts and contribute towards making Boniyar cleaner, greener and healthier.

The initiative formed part of the Army’s community engagement efforts aimed at promoting civic awareness and strengthening interaction with local residents.
