PAMPORE, December 09: MLA Pampore, Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi, on Wednesday inaugurated the long-awaited road construction work at Bajnadi, Khrew area ofPamporeTehsil, a long-pending demand of the local residents. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Executive Engineer R&B Sheikh Nisar Ahmad, AEE R&B Irshad Ahad Mir, other officials, and large numbers of local residents.
For decades, the area had remained disconnected, causing daily hardships to the people, especially elderly residents, students, and patients, who faced immense inconvenience due to the absence of proper road connectivity.
The project, sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 31 lakh, marks a major relief for the inhabitants of the area.
During the inauguration, local residents and elders expressed their heartfelt gratitude to MLA Pampore Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi for taking up the issue on priority and ensuring that their long-standing demand was finally fulfilled. They appreciated his dedicated efforts in addressing genuine public concerns and bringing much-needed development to Bajnadi, Khrew.
Speaking to Morning Kashmir, a local elder from Bajnadi village expressed deep gratitude to MLA Pampore, Hasnain Masoodi. He said that his family has been living in the area since 1998, and for many years there was neither proper water supply nor road connectivity. Residents were forced to fetch drinking water from nearly three kilometres away and even carried ration from the same distance, often with the help of horses.
The elder thanked the National Conference government, particularly MLA Hasnain Masoodi, for visiting the area and ensuring that water supply has now reached every household in Bajnadi. He said this development became possible due to the MLA’s dedicated efforts, and added that proper road connectivity has also finally been extended to the village.
Speaking to Morning Kashmir, MLA Pampore, Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi said that the habitation of Bajnadi Bathen on the Khrew road is located just 30 kilometres from Srinagar, yet there had been no proper road connectivity to the area until now. He said a programme was formulated to connect the area with the main road network so that the local population could benefit from better access.
He stated that the village had been facing serious difficulties, as ambulances could not reach Bajnadi village and children were unable to attend school due to the absence of a proper road. He added that the road has now been inaugurated and the connectivity work will be completed soon. He further informed that a drainage project will also be implemented along with the road.
He said that a few days earlier, the Bajnadi–Bathen–Batdalav water supply scheme, a project worth Rs 9 crore, was inaugurated and has now become operational. He said that the Omar Abdullah–led government is a people-friendly government and that essential facilities such as road connectivity, power supply and water supply must reach every village to ensure overall development.
He further said that during this year, roads worth nearly Rs 10 crore were constructed and blacktopped in the Pampore constituency under PMGSY and NABARD. He also shared that a bridge over the River Jhelum between Patalbagh and Khadermoh, costing Rs 10 crore, has been approved for the Pampore constituency. He added that the Pampore constituency is on the path of development and that existing problems will be resolved in the coming year. He said that around 70 percent of the roads in areas including Kakapora, Parigam, Pampore and Khrew have been macadamised, and the process of development will continue.
