Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir – 8 April 2026: The Mega Job Fair 2026 at Chinar Yuva Centre, Baramulla concluded on a high note, reinforcing its role as a vital platform for linking talented youth with meaningful career opportunities. Organized by the Dagger Division of the Indian Army in collaboration with the District Employment & Counselling Centre (DECC) and Mission YUVA, along with prominent government and private sector organizations, the event has emerged as a cornerstone for youth empowerment and employment generation in the region.
The job fair witnessed an overwhelming response with a total of 4,105 registrations against 1,155 vacancies across diverse sectors. The event recorded a cumulative footfall of over 3,000 candidates, out of which 1,012 candidates were shortlisted, reflecting both the preparedness of the youth and the confidence of participating employers.
A diverse range of reputed companies including Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Hotel Royal Castle, Hotel Khyber, Hotel Sarovar Portico, Honda, SBI Life and other corporate entities and skill development institutions participated in the event. Employment opportunities were offered across sectors such as information technology, healthcare, hospitality, banking, retail, manufacturing, automobiles and marketing services. Recruitment was conducted through both offline and online modes, ensuring wider outreach and accessibility.
Additionally, multiple government departments set up information counters to promote self-employment schemes and provide details on subsidized loan facilities, encouraging entrepreneurship and financial independence among youth.
The event was graced by the General Officer Commanding, Dagger Division, along with the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, MLA Javed Baig and other civil and military dignitaries, highlighting strong civil-military synergy. A Food Processing Unit was also inaugurated by the GOC, Dagger Division and DC Baramulla, aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and strengthening local livelihood opportunities.
Addressing the gathering, the General Officer Commanding, Dagger Division, emphasized that the initiative is not merely about employment but about empowering youth to transform their aspirations into achievements and contribute meaningfully to society and the nation.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid, highlighted that such initiatives are crucial for creating sustainable employment opportunities while also fostering entrepreneurship and long-term economic growth in the region.
Sharing her experience, Ms Nafiya Tabassum, a successful candidate placed at Amazon India, expressed gratitude and stated that the job fair served as a turning point by providing both opportunity and confidence to build a better future.
Notably, two ex-servicemen also secured employment at Canara Bank, Sopore, further reflecting the inclusive impact of the initiative.
