Asks J&K unit to improve vote share in Jammu division
Srinagar, Jul 08: The recent parliamentary elections in the Jammu division might have brought the faces of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to the parliament, but the lower vote share in the 18th LS polls has worried the party’s top brass, who has directed the party leaders to gear up and regain the faith amongst the people throughout the division.
The party insiders informed the Morning Kashmir that in the upcoming assembly elections, the leadership is eyeing the Chief Minister candidate from the party and thus has passed strict directions to all party cadres from Jammu & Kashmir to work hard and ensure the majority is achieved in the elections.
“The strict directions have been passed to ensure that the majority is achieved in the upcoming assembly polls and also the mission of attaining CM position is achieved in this election,” the party sources said.
Notably, a high-level meeting was held in Delhi last week late wherein the discussion on the party’s position in J&K was discussed.
The party leaders from Jammu & Kashmir were directed to gear up for ‘mission 40’ to ensure a minimum of 40 seats are secured in the Union territory during the assembly polls so that the party will form the next dispensation for the second consecutive time.
Pertinently, BJP formed the government for the first time in Jammu & Kashmir in 2014 while allying with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). After serving the people and getting the key post of deputy chief minister, the party parted ways and ended the bonhomie with PDP in June 2018. Since then, J&K has been without an elected government.
