BJP Launches Plantation and Cleanliness Drive under ‘Gaon Chalo Abhiyan’ in Wahab Sahib Pampore 

PAMPORE,  April 11: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday organized a cleanliness and plantation drive in the Wahab Sahib, Shar Shali area of Pampore under its Gaon Chalo Abhiyan, aimed at promoting environmental protection, cleanliness, and public awareness at the grassroots level.

The programme witnessed active participation from senior party leaders and local workers. Former BJP District President Pulwama and senior leader Mohammad Lateef Bhat, along with party leaders Mohammad Asif Ganaie, Mohammad Altaf Mir, Manzoor Ganie, Arfat Khan, Yasir Bhat and Sajad Ahmad took part in the initiative and supervised various activities carried out during the drive.

As part of the campaign, participants planted saplings at different locations and conducted cleanliness activities in and around the locality. Local school students also enthusiastically joined the programme, contributing to both plantation efforts and sanitation work, reflecting growing awareness among the younger generation regarding environmental responsibility.

Speaking on the occasion, party leaders highlighted the importance of plantation and sanitation drives in preserving the environment and building a healthy society. They emphasized that collective community participation is essential to maintain clean surroundings and combat environmental challenges.

The leaders urged residents, particularly youth, to actively engage in keeping their neighborhoods clean and to contribute towards increasing green cover by planting more trees. They noted that such initiatives not only enhance environmental sustainability but also strengthen community cooperation and civic responsibility.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to continue organizing similar awareness programmes in the future to promote eco-friendly practices and ensure a cleaner, greener, and healthier society.

Speaking to Morning Kashmir, senior BJP leader Mohammad Lateef Bhat said that April 6 marked the party’s Foundation Day, and the ongoing programme was organized in connection with that, including a cleanliness drive and plantation campaign.

He stated that tomorrow will be the final day of the initiative, and today they visited the Wahab Sahab Shrine along with other BJP leaders and workers. He added that school students actively participated in the programme, for which he expressed his gratitude, along with appreciation for his team members who contributed to the initiative.

He further said that the drive will continue tomorrow as well, emphasizing that BJP’s mission is “Cleanliness is our faith.” He urged people to maintain cleanliness in nallahs, lanes, drains, and parks, and stressed that such awareness and cleanliness drives should continue everywhere.
