SRINAGAR, Oct 01: The Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today strongly condemned the ruling National Conference (NC) government for what it termed “irresponsible governance that has led to the severe neglect of the region’s priceless cultural heritage, language, and traditional art forms.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Srinagar, BJP J&K Spokespersons Manzoor Bhat along with Altaf Thakur and Er Shail Bashir outlined the NC government’s failures and contrasted them with the decisive actions taken by the BJP-led Central Government under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to preserve and promote Kashmir’s identity.
“For centuries, Jammu and Kashmir has been known as the cultural crown of India, but sadly, this priceless heritage is facing serious neglect under the present NC Government,” stated Manzoor Bhat. Our traditional theatre, Bhand Pather, is dying, and its artists are struggling without support. Our mother tongue, the Kashmiri language, was sidelined for decades. This is not just a policy failure; it is an attack on the very soul of Kashmir.
Bhat pointed out that while states like Gujarat and Punjab proudly promote their folk arts, the NC government has failed to create a cultural policy, provide financial grants, or offer recognition to the custodians of Kashmir’s traditions.
Bhat highlighted the Central Government’s commitment to the region’s culture. Fulfilling a long-standing demand of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister gave official recognition to languages like Kashmiri and Dogri, granting them the dignity and status they have deserved for decades,” he added.
These are real actions, not empty promises, Bhat emphasized. This proves that BJP truly cares for every culture and every community. Our vision is of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ a Developed India that is culturally proud and inclusive.
This is not about politics this is about the identity of Kashmir,” concluded Bhat. If we lose our language, our theatre, and our culture, we lose a part of ourselves. The BJP has shown the way with strong actions under Modi Ji’s leadership. It is now the responsibility of the NC Government to act. BJP will continue to stand as the guardian of Kashmir’s rich legacy.
