SRINAGAR, AUG 28: With the return of normalcy, Kashmir is abuzz with sports, business and entertainment activities, giving a huge amusement to the people of the valley.
Shops and other establishments stay open late in the evening while people participate in entertainment activities.
“Not long ago, the fear and threat that used to prevail with the sunset have disappeared,” said Ali Mohammad, a shopkeeper at Lalchowk.
Similarly, the youth of Kashmir are participating in sports activities across the valley. These days it could be seen that cricket and football tournaments are being held in every district of the valley.
“It is good to see such a number of youth engaged in sports activities. I believe the frequency of such events should be increased in coming times,” said Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar.
On Sunday, a final match of the women’s Cricket Tournament was played in Srinagar where Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and international cricketer Mithali Raj were also present.
On the occasion, Sinha said that he is delighted to see the young women in Kashmir getting new opportunities.
Similarly, on Tuesday, a final match of hockey will be played at Poloview Park.
While top business honchos will descend on Kashmir to mentor local startups on September 03.
A group of global Beauty Divas visited Kashmir on Monday, as a prelude to the Miss World pageant 2023.
The group includes Miss World, Karolina Bielawska; Miss World Caribbean, Emmy Pena; Miss World America, Shree Saini; Miss World India, Sini Shetty; Miss World England, Jessica Gagen; Miss Asia, Pricilia Carla Saputri Yules; Chairman and CEO of Miss World Organization, Julia Eric Morley and her team; Rouble Negi, founder Rouble Negi Art Foundation.
The visit of these Beauty Divas was curated by the Tourism Department in collaboration with the Rouble Nagi Art Foundation.
The visit of these celebrities is expected to give a further push to MICE tourism in J&K which is already witnessing a very encouraging scenario after the successful holding of the 3rd Working Group meeting of G 20 countries here in May this year. The G 20 event which has proved to be a game changer and a transformative event for local tourism has led to an increased footfall of foreign travellers visiting the UT which has gone up several notches after the successful event.
There is also a buzz of entertainment activities in Kashmir as scores of shootings are being done in Kashmir these days.
