80th Independence Day Celebrated with Patriotic Fervour Across Police District Sopore

Sopore, August 15, 2026: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm across PD Sopore, with thousands of people joining the celebrations.

The main 80th Independence Day function was held at Khushal Sports Stadium, Tulibal, where Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Shri Shabir Ahmad Raina-JKAS, unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade and took the salute at an impressive march past.

The function was attended by SSP Sopore, Shri Iftkhar Talib-JKPS, senior officers from the Army, CRPF, Police and Civil Administration, besides members of civil society, educationists, representatives of various organisations, students and a large number of citizens.

The ceremonial parade comprised contingents of District Police Sopore, CRPF, Home Guards and students from various educational institutions. Colourful cultural and patriotic performances by students added to the spirit of the celebrations and showcased national pride and local cultural heritage.

Around 6,000–7,000 people attended the main function, reflecting enthusiastic public participation and a strong sense of patriotism and unity.

Independence Day was also celebrated across Police District Sopore, with the National Flag hoisted at police establishments, government offices, judicial complexes, municipal and block offices, Panchayat Ghars, educational institutions and other establishments. Similar functions were held at different locations across the district with active participation from the public.

The celebrations across the district concluded peacefully amid an atmosphere of patriotism, unity and harmony, reaffirming the collective commitment towards peace, progress and the nation.
