Dhok Collapse in Chowkibal Due to Heavy Rains Army Extends Timely Assistance

A traditional livestock shelter (dhok) collapsed in the Chowkibal area of Wangat Ganderbal following continuous rainfall on Wednesday morning, leading to the death and injury of several animals. Fortunately, no human casualties were reported in the incident.

According to official sources, the incident occurred at around 8:30 AM when a local resident reported that the structure had suddenly given way due to rain-induced weakening. The dhok belonged to Gami Bijran, a resident of Sundarbani, and was being used to house livestock, including goats and sheep.

Soon after receiving the information, the Indian Army’s 2 Assam Rifles (3 Sector RR) stationed in the area, swiftly responded to the situation. Troops from Company Operating Base (COB) Wangat reached the site and provided immediate assistance.Veterinary support and first aid were extended to the injured livestock, while efforts were made to salvage animals trapped under the debris.

Local residents appreciated the prompt response of the Army personnel, who ensured that necessary help was delivered without delay despite challenging weather conditions.Their timely intervention helped minimize further losses and provided much-needed relief to the affected family.
