Srinagar: Whenever divinely guided scholars and enlightened spiritual personalities emerge in any era, they play an essential role in the outward and inward development, moral growth, and genuine advancement of society. Their contributions not only benefit their contemporaries but also help guide future generations towards goodness and welfare. Viewed from this perspective, the religious, social, and intellectual revival brought about by Qutb-ul-Alam, Hazrat Peeran-e-Peer Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA), popularly known as Ghaus-ul-Azam Dastagir, continues to have a profound and transformative influence across different parts of the world. Scholars, intellectuals, and people of spiritual insight across different schools of thought and traditions acknowledge the enduring impact of his legacy. People of knowledge, wisdom, and particularly those associated with the spiritual sciences are well aware that, through the comprehensive and sincere services of Hazrat Peeran-e-Peer, countless people were guided towards sound understanding, spiritual refinement, and the awakening of the heart. His influence has continued through generations, inspiring seekers of knowledge and spirituality across the Muslim world. These views were expressed by the Chief of Karwani Islami International, Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, while addressing a large gathering at the Central Jamia Masjid, Reban, Shopian, on the occasion of Friday prayers. Addressing the gathering, Allama Hami said that Dastagir Sahib (RA), through his extraordinary dedication and intellectual pursuit, attained mastery over the outward sciences while also being blessed with profound spiritual insight, inner knowledge, and spiritual elevation. He said that saints and spiritual luminaries across generations have recognised the exceptional spiritual stature of Hazrat Peeran-e-Peer and have sought blessings and guidance through his enduring legacy. Allama Hami further stated that Hazrat Peeran-e-Peer illuminated the path of knowledge and spiritual wisdom through his outward and inward learning. Through his disciples and seekers, the light of knowledge and spiritual understanding spread to different parts of the world, and countless members of the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ continue to benefit from this guidance. He emphasised that, in the present era, there is an urgent need to study and understand the countless social, intellectual, and religious contributions of Pir-e-Pir, as many contemporary challenges can find meaningful guidance in his exemplary life and teachings. Allama Hami stressed that Hazrat Dastagir (RA) should not be viewed merely through the lens of a particular sect or school of thought. Rather, he was a renewer of faith and a proponent of a God-conscious and spiritually enlightened outlook. Therefore, every sincere student and seeker of knowledge should study his life, scholarship, conduct, and teachings without restricting the inquiry to sectarian or denominational perspectives. Speaking about the persistent problem of the illegal trade and use of drugs in society, Allama Hami made it clear that the menace must be eradicated at the earliest. He said that the responsibility for addressing this grave problem does not rest upon any single individual or particular section of society. Rather, overcoming this destructive menace is a collective responsibility of every conscientious and responsible member of society. Allama Hami said that eliminating the scourge of drugs from its roots is essential for the proper upbringing, protection, and welfare of the younger generation. He therefore called upon social leaders, government institutions, religious scholars, preachers, and capable members of society to come forward and play their respective constructive roles in combating drug abuse. He further observed that social media can play a particularly important and positive role in this effort. Those actively engaged on social media, he said, should strengthen the campaign against drugs and use their platforms to educate young people about the harmful effects and serious consequences of drug abuse.
