Drugs Control Department Bandipora Intensifies Inspections in Naidkhai, Sumbal

Bandipora, 01 April 2026 — The Drugs Control Department, Bandipora, today intensified inspections in and around the adjacent areas of Tehsil Sumbal and Hajin as part of its ongoing drive to ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules.
During the inspection, various medical shops in Naidkhai, Sumbal were thoroughly checked. On-the-spot instructions were issued to the concerned chemists regarding mandatory installation and maintenance of CCTV cameras and footage, switch-over to a computerized billing system, and proper maintenance of purchase and sale records of Schedule H1 drugs. Relevant records were examined in detail during the inspections.

During the drive, one medical shop namely M/s Malas Medicate, Chemists and Druggists, Naidkhai, was closed down on the spot due to non-maintenance of records of preparations containing Tramadol, Chlordiazepoxide, and other notified drugs, including insulin syringes. The drugs were seized on the spot, and a notice was issued for non-compliance with departmental directives. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
The Drugs Control Department has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against violations, particularly the operation of unlicensed medical shops and non-compliance with statutory provisions. The department emphasized that such enforcement drives will continue regularly in the interest of safeguarding public health.
