Focus on linking education with jobs

With the education system undergoing a paradigm shift in view of the New Education Policy (NEP)-2020, it is high time colleges and universities focus on developing innovation cells that would help generate employment opportunities and would ensure a better future for generations to come. We should not only live for ourselves, but also for future generations to come and sustainable development would be critical in this context in times to come. While the NEP-2020 stresses multidisciplinary and experiential learning along with promoting an entrepreneurial and innovative culture in academics, business proposals should be developed and encouraged by universities so that start-up culture is fostered. The universities must develop and foster an environment that sustains innovation and entrepreneurship. As such, events to promote the start-up culture in youths need to be organized. Such an innovative and entrepreneurial approach by youth would help Jammu & Kashmir to catch the next wave of the agricultural revolution, educational tourism, and economic culture. We need to seriously understand the importance of linking education with job creation which has been a focus of the Central government that has been promoting the start-up culture across the country. The Union Territory administration should provide financial assistance like seed money and patent filing charges for all types of start-ups taken by the youth of the universities so that the mindset of the youth will shift from job seekers to job creators.
