Government Higher Secondary School Nadihal Bandipora celebrates World No Tobacco Day

Bandipora May 31: Nasha Mukht Abhiyan Club of Higher Secondary School  Nadihal Bandipora today (31/05/2024) organised an impactful programme under “World No Tobacco Day” banner aimed to spread awareness about the harms caused by tobacco products to the people, public health, communities and the environment.The programme led by I/c School Nodal Officer Nasha Mukht Abhiyan Club Ishfaq Majeed Lone, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students in various activities like Debate, Painting competition l, Slogan writing and a rally. The commitment and passion of participants contributed significantly to the success of the programme. Dr Irfan Hussain , Medical Officer health department also sensitized the students regarding harmful effects of tobacco.

The members of Nasha Mukht Abhiyan Club, programme participants, other students and staff members carried anti-tobacco placards and banners. Later an attention drawing rally was taken from school campus to the Nadihal market spreading awareness about the physical, psychological, and social consequences of tobacco usage.

The anti-tobacco programme organized by HSS Nadihal served as a powerful platform to advocate for a tobacco free society. By uniting students, faculty, and community members, the  programme demonstrated collective determination in combating the menace of tobacco usage.

In debate competition Mohammad Umair Wani of 10th class secured 1st position, whileas 2nd and 3rd positions were bagged by Dawood Mohiuddin Lone of class 12th and Hoor ul Ain of class 11th , respectively.In the painting competition Nadeem ul Islam of 11th class secured 1st position, Insha Fayaz of 11th bagged 2nd and Liyaqat Ayoub of 11th class bagged 3rd position.

Presenting the conclusion remarks, Vice Principal of the institution Mr Ghulam Mohammad Wani said that these programmes play a vital role in fostering awareness and a culture of responsibility towards one’s health and well-being and informed that our institute will continue to organize more awareness campaigns and educational seminars to continue the fight against  tobacco and promote healthier lifestyle choices within the community.
