GDC Budgam organizes Impact Lecture Series on ‘Innovation, Incubation, Entrepreneurship and Development’

BUDGAM, AUG 22 : The Institution Innovation Cell (IIC) of Govt. Degree College (GDC) Budgam organized an Impact Lecture Series on the theme ‘Innovation, Incubation, Entrepreneurship and Development.’
Well-known experts in the field of Innovation Dr. Saad Pervaiz, Associate Professor at National Institute of Technology, Srinagar and Dr. Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, Assistant Professor at Zhejiang University, China delivered lectures on the theme in two technical sessions.

In her Presidential Address, Principal of the College, Professor (Dr.) Mudasir Afshan emphasized the need to think innovatively and the important role of educational institutions in fostering a healthy and encouraging environment for innovative thinking especially among the younger generations.
Earlier delivering a welcome address, Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Dar, President IIC outlined the importance of innovation in today’s world and introduced the concept and idea behind the programme.
Dr. Saad Pervez through his PPT and lecture demonstrated the enabling nature of Innovation in the present-day world by giving examples from his vast experience in the field.
This was followed by an engaging question and answer session with the audience comprising students and staff of the college, including young students from the Atal Mentoring Labs (ATL) of the mentee schools of the College IIC.
The second technical session witnessed an equally powerful and engaging presentation by Dr. Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, who shared vignettes from his experiences of innovations at the global as well as the local levels. With more than a decade of his work at the ground from extreme marginalized places of Kashmir and the world, he demonstrated that innovation is possible anywhere and by any right-thinking person in the world. He kept the audience captivated by his innovative techniques and thought-provoking stories.
This was followed by felicitation of the expert speakers by the Principal of the College.
