GMC Baramulla Performs 22nd Dual Chamber Pacemaker Implantation in 6 Months

Baramulla 12 Sep 2023: In a significant medical milestone, Government Medical College (GMC), Baramulla, has successfully conducted its 22nd dual chamber pacemaker implantation procedure in the last six months. This achievement comes as the hospital continues to provide cutting-edge healthcare services to the community, despite limited resources.
Under the guidance of the esteemed Principal, Prof. Ruby Reshi, and the leadership of Medical Superintendent Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi, the cardiology team at GMC Baramulla has excelled in offering this high-tech pacemaker implantation facility. This accomplishment not only brings laurels to the institution but also stands as a testament to the hospital’s commitment to enhancing healthcare in North Kashmir.

The HOD of Medicine and his dedicated team, led by cardiologist Dr. Mudasir Muzamil, received congratulations from Principal Medical College Baramulla and Medical Superintendent GMC for their outstanding work.
Remarkably, all 22 pacemaker implantations were conducted under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) scheme, popularly known as the golden card facility.
This initiative ensures that patients receive this life-saving treatment free of cost, which would typically amount to 2 lakh rupees in the private sector.
