Reaffirming its commitment towards the health and well-being of the local population, the Indian Army’s 3 Sector Rashtriya Rifles organised a medical camp at Athwatoo area of Bandipora district in collaboration with the District Hospital and local doctors.The camp received an encouraging response, with 745 residents from Athwatoo and surrounding areas taking advantage of various healthcare services.During the camp, residents received comprehensive medical check-ups, consultations, essential medicines, and health-related advice. Patients requiring further investigations and specialised treatment were identified and referred to higher medical centres for appropriate care.A special focus was placed on women’s healthcare, with a Lady Doctor available at the camp to facilitate women in discussing their health concerns in a comfortable and supportive environment.Several women were examined, diagnosed and provided appropriate medical advice and treatment.An awareness session was also organised on personal hygiene, sanitation and prevention of common diseases, sensitising residents about simple preventive measures to maintain better health and reduce the risk of illnesses.The overwhelming participation reflected the community’s appreciation of the initiative. Residents expressed gratitude to the Indian Army and medical teams for bringing essential healthcare services closer to their doorstep and urged that similar camps be organised regularly.The initiative was aimed at strengthening healthcare outreach in remote and underserved areas while further fostering trust, goodwill and a strong bond between the Army and the people of Bandipora.
