Pulwama, Oct, 28 : In a significant update on the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh presented a report on the region’s progress over the past five years. The report reflects a notable decrease in violence and terror-related incidents.
Addressing the passing out parade of 307 officials at CTC Lethpora, Pampore in Pulwama district, the DGP highlighted key achievements. Notably, there has been no collateral damage, no significant law and order incidents, and zero civilian casualties during this period. Moreover, the graph of terrorism, which had long plagued J&K, is showing a clear decline.
DGP Singh discussed the launch of Operation Capacity Building, which aims to equip 43 police stations with state-of-the-art weaponry and anti-terror teams. In the first phase, 21 police stations have already been upgraded, with plans in motion for the remaining 22. These upgraded police stations are operating under a “zero-terror plan.”
Outcomes from these initiatives include a decrease in terror incidents, with only three reported in Anantnag district this year. Impressively, 36 police stations have maintained a 100% terror-free record.
The police stations involved in Operation Capacity Building will have access to drones, advanced weaponry, and 14-member squads trained to respond to terror incidents. This enhanced security infrastructure will further bolster area domination.
The DGP acknowledged that challenges persist, as demonstrated by the recent killing of five terrorists in the Machil sector of Kupwara. This incident underscores the ongoing efforts by adversaries to disrupt the peace in the region.
DGP Singh stressed the essential role of public support in achieving these milestones. He described the J&K police as “the people’s police,” working to safeguard the well-being of the region’s youth, people, and children striving for a better future through education. He urged the public to continue supporting the police for the betterment of the region.
