Says unemployment on declining trend in country as UR stands 3.2 in India
Srinagar, July 24: The government of India has shared the crucial figures in the parliament, revealing that Jammu & Kashmir’s unemployment rate (UR) is 4.4 while the country’s overall unemployment rate stands at 3.2.
Replying to the question raised by Member of Parliament Amra Ram, the Minister of State (MoS) for Labour and Employment, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje has stated that the country’s unemployment rate stands at 3.2 while in J&K, it stands at 4.4.
As per the latest available Annual PLFS Reports, the estimated Unemployment Rate (UR) on usual status for persons of age 15 years and above was 4.2%, 4.1% and 3.2% during 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23. As far as Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, the e estimated Unemployment Rate (UR) on usual status for persons of age 15 years & above during 2022-23 in Jammu and Kashmir is 4.4, the MoS said.
Employment generation coupled with improving employability is the priority of the government, he said, adding that the government of India has accordingly taken various steps for generating employment in the country.
The various ministers/departments of government of India like Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Textiles etc are implementing different employment generation schemes/programmes like PMEGP, MGNREGS, DDU-GKY, RSETIs, DAY-NULM, PMMY etc.
