SRINAGAR, DEC 12: In a bid to enhance accessibility and facilitate easy access to online services for the general public, the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory government has initiated discussions on the establishment of accessible facilitation centres.
These centres, tentatively named Common Service Centers (CSCs), are proposed to be set up within various government offices.
The aim is to provide comprehensive guidance to the public, ensuring they are well-informed and proficient in utilizing the diverse array of online services offered by the government.
A top official in the government said that this initiative is designed to offer comprehensive guidance and support to the general public, streamlining various administrative processes and the work in this regard will soon be initiated.
“The integration of Common Service Centers within government offices is expected to create a one-stop solution for citizens seeking assistance with various government-related queries and services. The primary objective of introducing Common Service Centers within government offices is to provide comprehensive guidance to the public. Citizens will have access to information related to various government schemes, procedures, and documentation requirements,” the official said.
“The CSCs will streamline the delivery of government services, allowing citizens to avail themselves of a wide range of facilities without the need to visit multiple offices. This initiative aims to simplify processes and reduce the bureaucratic hurdles often faced by the public”.
Sources close to the matter revealed that the government has directed the Information Technology Department to collaborate with concerned Deputy Commissioners in identifying suitable government offices for the establishment of these Common Service Centers.
The Common Service Centers will also facilitate the transition towards a more digital and technology-driven approach.
Citizens will be able to access online services, submit applications electronically, and receive updates on the status of their requests through these centres.
The government plans to collaborate with various stakeholders to establish and manage these Common Service Centers.
Sources said that as part of the initial phase, pilot centres will be launched in select government offices across Jammu and Kashmir.

The Common Service Centre Scheme is a centralized collaborative framework designed to deliver services to citizens, ensuring the systemic viability and sustainability of the scheme. To strengthen the existing infrastructure, the government has also urged appropriate reinforcement of manpower at the two call centres in Jammu and Srinagar.
