Top Security Officials Oversee Joint Mock Drill at Sumbal Transit Camp Ahead of Amarnath Yatra 2026

Bandipora, June 25: In a major step to strengthen security and emergency preparedness for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2026, a joint mock drill was successfully conducted at the Sumbal Transit Camp in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday.

The large-scale exercise witnessed the active participation of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force, medical teams, Home Guards, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), showcasing coordinated efforts to ensure a safe pilgrimage.

The mock drill was aimed at testing emergency response mechanisms, inter-agency coordination, and operational readiness to tackle any unforeseen situation during the annual yatra. Various rescue and evacuation scenarios, including medical emergencies, disaster response, and crisis management operations, were demonstrated during the exercise.

Senior officials, including the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Kilo Force, DIG North Kashmir, Commander 3 Sector RR, SSP Bandipora, and senior CRPF officials, were present during the drill and closely monitored the preparedness exercise.

Officials said the drill served as a crucial exercise in evaluating the response capabilities of all agencies involved in securing the pilgrimage route and transit facilities. The seamless coordination among the participating forces reflected the administration’s strong commitment to ensuring the safety and security of pilgrims.
Authorities reiterated that extensive security arrangements and emergency response measures are being put in place across transit camps and key routes ahead of the commencement of the Amarnath Yatra 2026.
