Mata Lalleshwari Jayanti 2025: Celebrating the Civilizational Wisdom of Lal Ded

The 705th birth anniversary of Shiv Yogini Mata Lalleshwari (Lal Ded), the 14th-century Kashmiri mystic poetess and philosopher, commenced on 31st August 2025 with weeklong celebrations across the globe by Kashmiri Pandits with great devotion and cultural pride.

In Delhi-NCR, festivities began with Puja and Bhajan Sandhya at Lalleshwari Vatika, Anangpur (Faridabad) and continued at Bani Mandir Gaushala (Gurugram), Sharika Bhawan, and Lalleshwari Housing Society, Faridabad. Community members, poets, and scholars came together to recite her Vakhs, highlighting their timeless relevance. Dr. Raj Nehru emphasized their philosophical depth and contemporary value in promoting inclusivity and ethical living, while Smt. Anjali Koul Adda and others enriched the recitations. A devotional offering, the Shiv Bhajan “Sadashiv Samiyoo” by Sh. Kanwal Peshin Ji with music by Sh. Rajesh Khar Ji, was also released.

Families worldwide prepared Taher (yellow rice), performed Havans, and organized events in Jammu, Pampore, Anantnag, and across India and abroad—from the US and Europe to Japan and Australia.

The celebrations reflect three dimensions of Lal Ded’s legacy: cultural continuity, women’s intellectual agency, and India’s soft power through knowledge diplomacy. Events continue till 7th September, both online and offline, to spread her message of light, wisdom, and unity.
