Morning Kashmir manager assaulted by building owner and his nephew

Srinagar Sep 12: Manager of Morning Kashmir newspaper was assaulted by building owner and his nephew on Tuesday.

Mohammad Ahsan, a resident of Sumbal Hajin Sonawari Bandipora, is working as a Manager with Morning Kashmir.
The paper is owned by Lalita Goja and its office is located at Zaz Complex behind Pick And Choose Store Residency Road Srinagar. The building is owned by four brothers. However, they have some internal disputes related to partnership of the building.
On Tuesday at around 2:50 pm when Ahsan and another staff member RaJan Thapa were coming out from the office for some official work, they were stopped by the building owner Khurshid Ahmad Zaz and his nephew Izhan Waris on the ground floor and enquired about the monthly rent.
Before Ehsan could respond, they both started abusing him. Then they started beating him. “They both threatened that they would kill me. They also attacked me with a baton which hit my head,” he said.
He has complained an internal injury in his head and shoulder. His head helmet has also crashed.
He was saved by some shopkeepers and customers. “I feel scared as they threatened to kill me,” Ehsan said.
Besides, they also threatened to kill Morning Kashmir legal advisor Advocate Anil Raina (Kashmiri Pandit).
After which the staff members approached the Kothibagh Police Station Srinagar to register an FIR.
The Morning Kashmir management has condemned the assault on its Manager. They have requested the police to ensure safety and security of the staff and take action against the accused under relevant rules.
