Omar accuses PDP of turning greedy for Anantnag Lok Sabha seat

Srinagar, April 20: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Saturday accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of turning greedy for Anantnag- Rajouri Lok Sabha seat.

The NC and PDP, despite being part of the Opposition’s INDIA bloc, are pitted against each other in all three Lok Sabha seats of Kashmir. The two parties were also a part of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), which was formed for the restoration of Article 370.PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti is in direct contest against senior NC leader Mian Altaf, for Anantnag Lok Sabha seat.He said the fight on the south Kashmir seat is not with the BJP or its B or C teams, but with one of our friends.

“..The fight on the south Kashmir seat is clearly not with the BJP. NC’s contest there is unfortunately with one of our friends who was with us till some days ago. Unfortunately, they left us for the greed of a seat. Our contest at least in south Kashmir is not with BJP or its B or C teams,” Omar told reporters, during campaigning for party candidate from Srinagar Aga Ruhullah. When asked that BJP has not fielded a candidate for the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat, the former JK Chief Minister said the saffron party has not left the field.

The NC Vice President said while the BJP may not directly contest the parliamentary polls in Kashmir, it was supporting parties like the Apni Party and People’s Conference (PC).“They are contesting. But the only difference is they do not have their party symbol, they are contesting on ‘cricket bat’ (Apni Party’s symbol) and ‘apple’ (PC’s symbol)… We are well aware who the BJP supports here, but they stand no chance of winning,” he added.
