Omar trains guns against PDP, says its candidate supported abrogation of Art 370

Srinagar, May 6: Training guns against Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the former chief minister of erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir state, Omar Abdullah on Monday said that it was their candidate, who didn’t turn up in the parliament when Article 370 was abrogated.
Omar while levelling serious allegations against PDP candidate from north Kashmir, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, said that he supported Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in abrogating Article 370 in the parliament. “You need to ask him why he didn’t turn up in the parliament when Article 370 was abrogated. He stayed away and didn’t cast a vote against the abrogation of Article 370,” Omar said.

The former chief minister stated that the party helped BJP in abrogating Article 370.
“I assure you that I will take up all the issues confronting people here in the next five years, but you need to work on May 20 to help the NC-Congress alliance to emerge victorious,” he said.
Furthermore, Omar termed the Lok Sabha elections as semi-finals and stated that the finals will be in August or September. “The vote you will cast today will have an impact in assembly elections too,” he said.
Pertinently, Omar has been chosen as the joint candidate for Baramulla Parliamentary seat where the elections are slated to be held on May 20, 2024.
He is among the major candidates, who are vying for the seat from the constituency. The close contest is expected between him and Peoples Conference (PC) Chairman and its candidate, Sajad Gani Lone from the constituency.  The jailed leader, Engineer Abdul Rasheed Sheikh is also in the fray for the polls.
Notably, Sajad has got the support of a maximum of parties and leaders from the constituency, thereby giving a further push to the tight contest from the seat.
