IMA Honors Dr. Shukla Raval with Community Service Award on National Doctors’ Day

New Delhi July 01: On the occasion of National Doctors’ day, Indian Medical Association (IMA) observed the award ceremony to felicitate the doctors who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to their patients and the medical field in improving the health and well-being of the society and have inspired many.

Dr Shukla Raval who hails from Gujarat, is been honoured by for her accomplishments and unwavering commitment to the medical profession. She is been awarded in IMA HQ, New Delhi under the category of Community Service Award.

Dr Shukla Raval along with Dr Smita Joshi has played an instrumental role in advocating for the inclusion of juvenile diabetes in government health programs in the state of Gujarat. Both doctors, actively engaged in health and welfare programs for women and children, have persistently urged the Governments of Gujarat and India to make necessary provisions in government hospitals.

As a result of their tireless work, the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Government of Gujarat has initiated measures to provide treatment for juvenile diabetes across the state. For FY 2023-24, the District Panchayat, a local self-government body, allocated Rs. 10.95 lakh for procuring insulin pens and cartridges for diabetic children, with an increased budget of Rs. 30 lakh for FY 2024-25.

National Doctor’s Day is celebrated annually on July 1, marking the birth anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a distinguished physician and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal. His significant contributions to healthcare and public health continue to be honored. In 1991, the Government of India officially declared July 1 as National Doctor’s Day. This day provides a special opportunity to express our gratitude to doctors and healthcare professionals for their tireless service, dedication, and resilience in ensuring the well-being of everyone.
