JAMMU, DEC 03: Identify the problems honestly which will lead to appropriate diagnosis and perfect solutions. This was advised to police officers by Director General of Police J&K R. R. Swain during an interaction with jurisdictional officers at DPO Samba today afternoon. The meeting was attended by DIG JSK Shri Shakti Pathak, SSP Samba Shri Bainam Tosh, all SDPOs and SHOs of Samba District.
Directing for using modern day technology/gadgetry, the DGP emphasised upon officers to think differently for finding solutions to the problems adding that there is always scope for improvement and doing work in a better & professional manner. The DGP stressed on identifying the problems honestly which will lead to appropriate diagnosis and perfect solutions. Stand tall and stay strong while fighting crime and criminals, the DGP impressed upon the officers.
The jurisdictional officers apprised the DGP regarding the security scenario and other police services being provided to the people in the district. SSP Samba briefed the DGP regarding the police efforts to keep crime under check.
Speaking to the media, the DGP said that for the sake of intelligence, operational secrecy we can’t share the number of terrorists present to anyone and viewing the threat perception on the basis of number of terrorists present is not wiseable for us as sometimes only one or two terrorists can do huge damage. Lauding the role of people of Rajouri-Poonch for their support and cooperation in fighting the terrorism, the DGP said that the role of the people in fighting terrorism is crucial.
J&K is a border UT that can’t be changed and there are continuous efforts from across the border to disturb the peace. In response to another question, the DGP said that in the past tunnels were used for infiltration, supplying arms, ammunition, drugs but now there is another challenge of drones which are used for the same purpose from across the border. He said that people of border areas are our eyes, ears and hands and they have a bigger role to play in helping us in fixing the drone challenge. There is need to upgrade the technology aspects at Police Station and Border Police Post levels so as to improve the reaction time as and when information is received, he said. DGP stressed that anyone who is found involved in receiving supplies from across the borders through any means including by drones will be dealt under law and such acts will be taken as the highest level of treason and terror.
