Srinagar, Apr 23: The curtains have come down on the Tulip Garden in Srinagar, which attracted a record 4.25 lakh tourists during its month-long opening this season, marking an unprecedented milestone in the garden’s history.
The authorities have decided to close the garden for the general public from Wednesday evening due to the shrinking bloom of the tulips.
The Tulip Garden, Asia’s largest, erupted in a riot of colors at the foothills of the majestic Zabarwan mountains, with a staggering 1.7 million tulips unfurling their petals, including five new vibrant varieties. The breathtaking spectacle of reds, yellows, pinks, and more splashed across the verdant landscape left both locals and tourists spellbound.
“I feel like I’ve landed in heaven,” gushed Vivek, a visitor from Kolkata, expressing his awe at the blooming tulips. A couple from Pune, on their first trip to the Tulip Garden, praised the administration’s efforts, saying, “We are having a smooth visit. The government has made excellent arrangements for visitors. Everyone should come here at least once.”
“This year, we’ve expanded by an additional 4 Kanals, with officials now deployed round the clock to address visitor grievances,” stated a Floriculture Department official.
As spring cast its colourful spell, Kashmir’s Tulip Garden welcomed the world to experience its eternal enchantment, leaving an indelible mark on the memories of those who witnessed the stunning floral display.
