Sports for Unity: Army’s Operation Sadbhavana Initiative in Border Areas

Jammu: 23 Jan 2026: As part of its continued efforts to strengthen Civil-Military relations and promote youth engagement in border areas, Tiger Division organised a sports outreach programme under Op Sadbhavana in the border villages. Under this initiative, sports equipment was distributed to the border villages Makwal, Mandal, Sohanjana with the aim of encouraging physical fitness, teamwork, and a healthy sporting culture among local youth. The distribution was warmly received by the villagers and reflected the Army’s commitment towards the holistic development of remote and border communities. In addition to the distribution of sports equipment, an Inter-Village Volleyball Tournament was organised, which commenced on 15 January and concluded on 19 January. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from a total of 12 border villages. The matches were played in a spirit of sportsmanship, discipline, and camaraderie, drawing large local audiences and fostering a sense of unity among the participants. The initiative provided a positive platform for young players to showcase their talent while reinforcing mutual trust and goodwill between the Army and the local population. The programme under Op Sadbhavana successfully highlighted the Army’s role beyond security, emphasizing community development, youth empowerment, and national integration through sports.
