Taj Mohiuddin announces Ghar Wapsi

Many senior leaders to re-join Congress

Srinagar, Aug 17: A day after the assembly elections were announced in Jammu and Kashmir, many senior leaders, who had joined the different political parties, are set to rejoin Congress in Jammu and Kashmir.

The senior leaders from Congress had joined different parties after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. However, the sources reliable told Morning Kashmir that the leaders have once again started discussions with the Congress leaders and will be joining the party again.
Nonetheless, the former legislator Taj Mohi-ud-din was among the leaders, who were planning to rejoin the party.
During the press conference today in Uri, the leader has announced his plans of rejoining the party, saying that he has held conversation with his workers and now has decided to rejoin Congress in the coming days.
Furthermore, several other leaders including Muhammad Amin Bhat, Gulzar Wani, Peerzada Mansoor, Abdul Majeed Wani and others are presently holding deliberations with the Congress leaders and discussing their re-entry in the party fold.
Sources within the party said that the decks will be cleared soon as several leaders will be rejoining Congress shortly.
Pertinently, the reports of rejoining of the leaders have come just a day after the party announced Tariq Hameed Karra as the new chief of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC).
Karra as per the party leaders is in talks with all the previous leaders, who have served as the legislators from time to time. “We are expecting a favourable outcome at the shortest possible time and the party will be strengthened at the grassroots level ahead of the polls to ensure the better and favourable results during the three-phased elections,” they said.
