National flag flies high at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk
Srinagar, Aug 14: As Kashmir prepares to celebrate Independence Day, there is a sight of celebration and joy as ecstatic Kashmiris wave the National Flag and the tricolour high at the historic Ghanta Ghar in the centre of Srinagar’s Lal Chowk and reject anti-national elements in Kashmir.
The fact that a large number of people, even those who once supported the deception of separatist ideology in Kashmir, participated in Tiranga rallies held across Kashmir speaks volumes about the joy in Kashmir. The national flag is carried in a rally by the social elite of Kashmir, which was an uncommon sight in a few years back.
For its 77th Independence Day celebration, four years after 2019, Jammu & Kashmir is decorated.
The anti-national notion that Kashmiri youth seek “Azadi,” a fantasy that has been peddled to them for many years by Pakistan’s terror allies, was debunked on Sunday by hundreds of young people in Srinagar brandishing the tricolour.
With the “Meri Mati, Mera Desh” campaign, a Tiranga Yatra rally in South Kashmir, formerly thought of as a hub of militancy, attracted a significant number of participants from all walks of life.
After leading a rally for the Tiranga Yatra on Sunday, L-G Manoj Sinha remarked that “Today the sky of Kashmir shines with the tricolour.”
After the Centre repealed Article 370, which granted the people of Kashmir exceptional rights, four years had passed before a new era of peace, prosperity, and progress was ushered in.
After two decades of militancy, hartals, strikes, and stone-throwing are no longer common, and peace has finally arrived after being so elusive. For the first time, schools, colleges, and universities are operating regularly and disturbance-free 24 hours a day.
Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Saturday said that there will be no restrictions or internet ban in Kashmir on Independence Day.
