Baramulla, Nov 8: The Traffic Police Department has intensified its drive against traffic violations across Baramulla district in North Kashmir as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure road safety and discipline.
The operation was led by SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Ravinder Paul Singh, along with DySP Traffic Baramulla-Kupwara Mujahid Nazir. Several officials from the traffic department participated in the drive.
According to SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, hundreds of vehicles were challaned and many were seized during the ongoing crackdown. The officer emphasized that the campaign aims to curb reckless driving, overloading, and unlicensed driving—common causes of road accidents.
He urged parents not to allow their children to drive vehicles without valid licenses, warning that strict legal action would be taken against violators. “Any individual found performing dangerous stunts on roads will face an FIR,” he cautioned.
The intensified drive, officials said, will continue in the coming days to promote road safety and responsible driving habits among commuters.
As part of the initiative, the Traffic Police also held awareness sessions involving parents and youth. Officers stressed that parental negligence and the pursuit of social media fame are major contributors to the rise in stunt biking and rash driving incidents.
Authorities further reiterated that in such cases, action under relevant sections of law will also be taken against parents and vehicle owners.
Speaking to reporters, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Ravinder Paul Singh appealed to parents, guardians, and motorists not to allow minors or students to engage in stunt driving. He noted that the menace can only be eradicated with the active cooperation of the general public.
“The fight against reckless driving is a collective responsibility,” he said, adding that the Traffic Police remains committed to awareness, enforcement, and counseling initiatives to safeguard lives and promote responsible driving practices across Kashmir.
