Tricolour to be hoisted on all Govt Schools, Offices across JK UT today

Srinagar Aug 14: The Tricolour on Independence Day, today, will be hoisted on government offices including all schools in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.

The hoisting of the National flag has been made mandatory for all government institutions.

“For last over a week, we are making all preparations for August 15 celebrations in our school. We will remain present in the school today for the Independence Day celebrations,” a teacher of a government school said.

The government has issued a circular which says, “Independence Day will be celebrated in all schools. Directions should be conveyed to all the CEOs, Principals/headmasters to hoist the national flag at all schools. Videos and photos of the function will be uploaded accordingly.”

Similarly Kashmir University has also said that a flag hoisting ceremony will be held in the University today. “All employees of the varsity are invited to the ceremony,” the university has said.

“We want to celebrate grand Independence Day by hoisting tricolour on all offices across Jammu and Kashmir. All preparations are in place in this regard,” a senior government official said.

Similarly, the Panchayat members will unfurl the tricolour in their respective constituencies.

Flyover at Lalchowk, Clock Tower (Ganta Ghar) has been illuminated in the colours of the tricolour.

The main I-Day function is scheduled to be held at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar today, and will be presided over by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

The government has also said that Colleges, Universities, Urban Local Bodies, Panchayats, Blocks, Tehsils, Patwar Khanas etc will hoist the National Flag on the respective buildings. The government officials said that adequate arrangements have been made for the Independence Day celebrations.
